BIOGRAPHY
Halldór Kristjánsson (1992) is an Icelandic contemporary oil painter from Reykjavík, Iceland. His artwork is centered around dreamlike symbolism, inspired by the paintings of the old masters of the Academy, the symbolic movement of the late 19th century and the color revolution brought about by the likes of Henri Matisse and Claude Monet.
Halldór began studying modern art at the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts (2013) and the Iceland University of the Arts. However, in 2015 he changed course in pursuit of mastering the technical groundings of oil painting and went abroad to Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California, USA where he spent the summer focusing on figurative drawing and painting. After which he began studying painting as a self-taught artist.
In 2017 Halldór started studying at The Florence Academy of Art in Gothenburg Sweden where he studied academic oil painting, graduating in 2020.
